everyone needs a Cupcake transporter.

Last night I baked some delicious cupcakes to take home as a belated Mother's Day present when I go to my parents' house tonight. I wanted to bring one to work and realized this was the perfect opportunity to put my cupcake transporter to use. This is by far one of my favorite kitchen gadgets that I own. The transporter for a single cupcake has little prongs that hold it in place, preventing the dreaded icing-sticking-to-the-side-of-the-container catastrophe. All cupcake fanatics should most certainly get one.

Cakes + Deliciousness = 2x Deliciousness

Hello everyone!

Caitlin has graciously invited me to be a guest blogger and I am pretty excited to have my posts appearing between pictures like this and videos like this. I decided to write my first post on cakes masquerading as other delicious things, as tsoukalis would say, all of these cakes are all ranked highly on the deliciousness index. Each of these gems offers numerous flavor combinations as well as a ton of different decorating ideas which is why I will need to acquire one of each when I get back to the US :)

1. The giant cupcake cake. The most versatile of the 3 but also the most boring. I am personally partial to the small versions of cupcakes because their personalized quality makes them more fun to eat. I would also worry that the density of the cake would make the outside a bit dry and the inside undercooked.

Deliciousness Index Rating: 8/10

2. The giant donut cake. I like this cake pan because you could just as easily do something very simple and yet still delicious, for example, a light cinnamon and vanilla cake covered with a caramel glaze or even just cinnamon and powdered sugar. Yum.

Deliciousness Index Rating: 9/10

3. And my personal favorite, the giant sandwich cake. I love the tagline for this one as well "the best thing since sliced bread!". I think the example they show would be the best way to utilize this pan, peanut butter and jelly mixture sandwiched between two slices of pound cake. I also think creamy peanut butter sandwiched between two slices of chocolate pound cake would be a 10 on the deliciousness index.

Deliciousness Index Rating: 10/10

So if any of you are looking for ideas for my next birthday, look no further.

Love to all.

I do heart cupcakes...

There is a cupcake craze going around the nations capital.  The Georgetown Cupcake sisters are about to have a reality show on TLC. According to Washingtonian, NYC bakery Crumbs is opening seven DC stores beginning in May. LA's Sprinkles bakery is supposedly opening a store in Georgetown sometime in the future. I have to say, this will create a personal dilemma. Georgetown Cupcake is my personal fave in DC but I hold a special place in my heart (and tummy) for Sprinkles, as it also reminds me of warm, sunny LA :)

To add to the hype, Washingtonian is currently hosting the Cupcake Cup. I can't believe how many cupcakeries there are! And that there are so many that I haven't tested yet...

On a semi-related note, check out these cheeseburger cupcakes!
