musicromping: Miley.

I was just discussing with a co-worker this morning how Miley Cyrus is not a great influence for young girls.  However, while I agree that her recent concert attire is a bit scanty,  she makes a good point that male performers don't get this much heat for being "scandolous" when they perform without shirts or "rock out" (as she called it) with their band/dancers on stage.  Her song "Liberty Walk" from her new album just leaked today and I must say, I do like her new sound.

some DC news.

The Apple Store will hold its grand opening in Georgetown on Friday evening.  While the company bought the location three years ago, it has taken some time to negotiate the store front design with the Old Georgetown Board so that it will fit in with the area's historic image.  The company will be handing out t-shirts to the first 1000 visitors.

Top Chef D.C. premieres tonight on Bravo at 9pm.  Check out Washingtonian's Bios Beyond What Bravo Tells You.

Dupont's Hello Cupcake held a "Design Your D.C. Cupcake" challenge, resulting in some creative designs. Ben's Chili Bowl appeared to be a popular theme!

A vampire musical?

It is like High School Musical and Twilight combined.  I Kissed A Vampire premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival this past weekend.  Check this out:

Your morning laugh.

First off, I saw this yesterday and agree with BYT's posting of it today - what is liquid cocaine? And what exactly qualifies as "criminal mischief"? Hopefully not blasting through toll booth arms because if that is the case, I am in trouble.

Second, this is amazing.

What a weekend.

On Friday I attended the DCWeek Kick-Off Party at Blagden Alley with some friends and had a great time.  We enjoyed good music, break-dancing, pink flamingos and PBRs while hanging out with some really great and interesting people. Click here for more information and a schedule of events being held this week.

Saturday morning I headed to the Upperville Colt & Horse Show in Upperville, Virginia to do the lead line class with five year old Isabella. She is absolutely amazing and she makes me smile so much every time I spend time with her. We spent most of the class discussing the snow cone she would be getting once it was over and what flavor she would go with (she chose "pink").  And she was very excited about her rainbow ribbon that she won!

Thankfully I had such a wonderful beginning to my weekend since it did not end on the greatest note.  I suppose I learned an important lesson, though: never play chicken with an EZpass toll gate. Believe me. It causes more damage than you would imagine.

have a great weekend :)

I'm looking forward to the DCWeek Kick-Off Party happening tonight at Blagden Alley, some soccer watching, the Upperville Horse Show and just enjoying the sun before the rain hits!

its time for the World Cup!

Today marks the start of the 2010 World Cup. Between now and July 11, games will take place between 6am and 6pm EST.  Many bars will be opening at 7am and are allowed to begin serving alcohol at 8am (incase you were wondering).  Viewing events will be taking place all over the city, including Soccer in the Circle in Dupont, games on the big screen at Arlington Drafthouse and flatscreens being set-up in the outdoor beer garden at the new Biergarten Haus.  Check out the schedule here.

Sort it out.

I'm a bit OCD so this whole blog change is upsetting me a tad.  I'm going to have to do some revamping soon as I'm not loving the new layouts and somehow there is no turning back to my old one. I guess that teaches me to get all click-happy.

Yikes.

Blogger made some changes and I was unable to resist the urge to click on things.  It appears I kind of effed up my blog layout.  Oopsy daisies.  Please pardon this debacle - I will work on correcting it soon :)

Freedom from porn?

In response to Apple's ban on X-rated apps and Steve Jobs' promise to provide "freedom from porn," a group of San Francisco street artists have launched a counter project, putting porn on iPad ads around San Fran during the Worldwide Developers Conference. Check this out.

travelromping: Iceland

The Icelandic government created this video to encourage travel to Iceland.  It was already on my list of places to visit but it may have moved up a few notches after seeing these happy people cartwheel about! (found via Cup of Jo).

Just your average Tuesday night.

Last night I went out to my parent's farm in Leesburg after work to ride my horses. While driving down their street, a car stopped me and asked if I had seen a calf. Oddly enough, yes, I had seen said calf, romping down the road infront of my car. I told her that he was in another neighbor's yard and that I had just informed said other neighbor of the random calf wandering about behind her house. Later, when I was riding Mikey, I had to wait for at least seven gaggle (gaggles? I don't know) of geese to cross out of my way, hissing at me and threatening to attack the whole time. You know, just your average Tuesday night filled with animals doing as they do.

There's glitter on the floor.

I spend a lot of time driving to and from the barn and horse shows so I listen to a lot of music. Usually peppy music that keeps me awake and that I can listen to loudly, while driving fast with the windows down. I can't stop listening to these three songs right now. As in I made an On-the-Go playlist last night that contained these three songs and listened to them on repeat for a bit (perhaps I shouldn't admit that).

I still cannot get enough of this Bulletproof remix, featuring Matthew Hemerlein.

I can't decide if I like the original or Airplanes II better.

Ke$ha's songs are not great. But they are so ridiculously catchy.

thoughts?

Summer Mash-up.

I really like mash-ups.  DJ Earworm has made another mix of this year's summer songs.

This is precious.

Small children make me laugh so much. This girl is absolutely adorable. The part when she talks about their jammies makes me want to simultaneously laugh and cry.

Where's the chapstick?

This leaves me kind of speechless. But worth watching. Courtesy of Trav.

Twilight Die-hards.

This is dedication.

I hope that my future husband wears a camo suit to our wedding.

Over the weekend I went wedding dress shopping with one of my best friends. After she tried on several dresses (and looked absolutely gorgeous) and I tried on a few bridesmaid dresses (and a ridiculous backless sequined number which I would have actually considered buying if it weren't four hundred dollars) we looked through some of the option books. And we were quite surprised at what we found.  Camouflage. In suit form. Worn seriously.  And then there were several pictures of Fabio-like men straddling their (I assume) future wives. I'm not really sure what was going on there.  But the man working in that section really didn't appreciate our giggles.

Les Grossman, you are bananas.

I can't say I've ever watched the MTV Movie Awards all the way through before but last night I got distracted by Les Grossman while flipping through the channels and ended up leaving it on.  A few observations: 1) The popcorn man's spandex is very tight. 2) Les Grossman makes me respect Tom Cruise SO much more. 2b) I wonder if Katie Holmes has ever requested that Tom leave on the Les Grossman outfit for some adult fun. 3) Robert Pattinson, I actually like your new haircut. 4) Sandra Bullock, congratulations. But I was a little confused during your speech. And am not sure why you and Scarlett Johanson kissed each other. But whatevs...you are still awesome. 5) Eclipse looks like its going to be awesome. I'm so glad I already have my ticket to see it (ha, yeah...that's right). 6) The KIA commercials that kept playing were a bit creepy. But I enjoyed when the hamsters were driving the toaster around. And 7) Aziz Ansari, you were ok. But I laughed more at everyone else. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the amount of times people made me laugh out loud.

Now...my favorite clip of the night.   Yeah, yeah play-yah.

Have a lovely weekend :)

Sorry for the reduced amount of posting this week :) After an incredible Memorial Day weekend in Middleburg, Virginia (pictures to come soon) I have been preparing for the next two weeks that are busy with riding - I leave this afternoon for the Devon Horse Show in Pennsylvania and am looking forward to the pale blue grandstands, fried oreos and tea sandwiches! And of course to showing Artie :) Have a wonderful weekend and I promise to post more soon...I have been researching fun summer DC activites such as rooftop pools, fun music events and anything giving me an excuse to romp about in the sun!

hello, summer.

This celebration just keeps getting better and better.

You have to watch this.

Last week I posted an article about the new denim diapers. While I was watching tv last night I saw their actual commercial. This for real.
