musicromping: King Charles

We saw King Charles opening for Mumford & Sons and I fell in love.  He is pretty wonderful.  His music, his outfit, his dreadlocks.

Silly Bandaids.

Bed Intruder acapella?

Top 40, sweet cheeks.

I know all of my recent posts have included music but I can't resist posting these clips from this week's Glee episode.  I can't stop watching/listening to them. I usually find Gwyneth Paltrow to be a bit dull but she really changed that with her performance in this episode.

musicromping: Girl Talk

Girl Talk just released a new album, available at http://illegal-art.net/allday/.  He will also be in DC on February 1st...just bought my tickets last week and cannot wait.  Check out the CD below.

Hello again.

Once again, I've been a bit bad about posting.  I've been a little distracted and emo about the lack of direction my life is taking (I mean, sort of emo. I really lack a desire to have real life direction).  A chat with my mom last weekend included her asking me when I'm going to get a career.  "Jobs are over-rated. I'm going to marry rich."  To which she responded with something along the lines of "Well, I don't really see you working towards that." While we both knew I was joking, touche, Phyllis.  Way to kick me when I'm down.

So I made the spur of the moment decision to jet off to NYC for less than 24 hours to see Mumford & Sons play at Terminal 5 with Elise.

How was the concert, you ask? Amazing.  I might venture to say the best concert I've seen. The openers, the energy, the order they played everything, their new songs....all amazing.  I love their entire album and they were really great live. This performance was one of my favorites, performed with their tour-mates King Charles (love him) and Cadillac Sky. Sadly the video does not even come close to capturing the energy in the venue when this was going on.

So true.

I've often thought about all of the exercise I get following imbibing due to all the dancing and frolicking I do.

Welcome home, Wheezy.

Big news.  Lil Wayne was released from jail yesterday morning after serving eight months of his one year sentence for a gun possession charge.  What did homeboy do upon his release from the slammer? First, he hugged his mama.  Then he alerted his tweeterverse ""aaaaaaahhhhhhmmmmm baaaaakk-kkkkkkkk."  And now its time to make up for those lost months.  First he is hitting up Vegas where it is rumored that he is going to take the stage with Drake. Then its off to Miami to celebrate with class by throwing a party at an undisclosed strip club.  I'm so glad he's back.

Welcome to DC, sir.

Zenyatta: Best Race Horse Ever?

60 Minutes' Bob Simon did the below report on Zenyatta.

"If Zenyatta wins the Breeder's Cup Classic to cap an undefeated career of 20 straight victories, some say the 6-yr.-old mare might just be the greatest thoroughbred racehorse in history."

She's also gotten her face in W Magazine. What a classy lady. Who appreciates her Guinness.

Hello there.

It has been brought to my attention that I haven't blogged in over a week.  My apologies. I don't really have a good excuse, to be honest.  So to make up for lost time I shall write a list of succinct updates/thoughts from the last week:

1. Someone stole the pumpkins from our front porch decoration. Or our neighbors threw them away because they fear rodents. Either is plausible. Neither is acceptable.

2. I love Halloween. Spending Halloween weekend in Charlottesville was a brilliant idea.  Being back in DC in time for trick-or treaters was also a good idea. We saw a lot of monkeys. One girl sang me the "trick-or-treat, smell my feet" song.  And two kids came by in Scream costumes which was horrifying considering we were watching Scream while waiting for them.

3. There is now a Pie Truck in DC.  This wouldn't mean much to me except that my sister has a strange obsession with pie so it immediately caught my attention.

4. Here is a quick story.  Last week, a small boy knocked on our door selling cookies to raise money for kids in need of something (I don't remember exactly what).  He gave me the run-down of what they were selling and told me that all I needed to do was give him my name, address and money and baked goods would arrive in the mail shortly. While I didn't really care about the yummies (these were no Thin Mints) I was happy to help him out so I asked if he had a pen.  No dice.  So I left him on the front steps while I went inside, grabbed a pen and my checkbook and announced to Elise that I was fairly certain I was being scammed by a small child selling cookies.  Back outside, I asked if he would take a check. After consulting with his larger teenage friends, he said no. At which point I knew I was being scammed and said no thank you, I am fresh out of cash, but good luck with your quest.

5. I failed one of my first research attempts. And I have never ever put so much effort into one before.  Alas, it was not meant to be, I suppose.

6. I finally changed the light bulb in my room. After about three weeks I now have light.

7. Blair and Chuck last night? Yes. Thank goodness. Their union is the best thing about that show.

8. Washington International Horse Show was in DC last week. Maybe that is why I wasn't blogging...because I was spending my lunch hours there before jetting off to Charlottesville. But anyway, McLain Ward did the Gambler's Choice dressed as a chicken.  Pretty awesome.

Halloween awesomeness.

This one is good, too.
